Frequently Asked Questions
What type of photography do you do?
All kinds. Have a look at my portfolio. I cover my weddings in a journalistic style. During my coverage of your wedding I'm hands off and unobtrusive however there is a place and a time for casual beautiful posed images of the bride and groom together. This time and place is usually at the location shoot which I shoot after the wedding day and I'm a little more hands on with. I like preserving details. Cakes, food, shoes, jewellery, the wedding dress, inanimate objects that catch my eye will all be a part of the work delivered. My images of your guests at the wedding are purely photojournalistic so I won't stop people for table shots or anything as such. I prefer to catch them smiling, laughing, drinking, dancing, having a great time.
Do you take formal family portraits?
Yes I do. I shoot journalistic but I still believe in those family images. They stay on. They're records of your entire family at an important time in their history together.
Can we give you a shot list of photographs we want you to take?
Other than family portraits, no. It's very helpful to know what important relatives and friends are coming to your day, and if any events bear special significance, but repeated requests for posed images and having to work from a checklist is counterproductive to the work you've seen here on my website.
Do you work with a second shooter?
No I absolutely do not work with a second shooter. It would negate the point of me shooting your wedding. You're essentially paying for my eyes and how I see things.
Do you edit our images before delivering them to us? All of them?
Yes I do. All of them. The camera records images in a company specific RAW format. They are uncooked. Neutral if you like. All images go through a "cooking process" where I create a delicious end result for you.
Where do you live? Do you travel?
I live in Limassol, Cyprus and I'll pretty much travel anywhere on Earth for work. Travel is billed very simply. If airfare and accommodation is required, it will be added on to the final price.
Can we get the black and white images in colour?
No. Those images are monochromatic for a reason. If you would like more colour images and less black and white or visa versa you can let me know during our consultation and I'll make a note of it.
Some of your party shots seem streaky? Why?
The streaky party shots serve a certain aesthetic. Most people like them..some people don't. If you'd prefer for me to shoot the party without this effect just let me know during our consultation and I'll make a note of it.
How long does it take to get our images and products?
It can take up to 12 weeks for you to receive your products. Both digital and print. Turnaround times are subject to the time of year. If your wedding was shot during busy wedding season expect to receive them at the far end of a 12 week stretch. If it was shot in the off season, 6 weeks or less would be a typical turnaround time.
How many photos will we get?
The number of images captured depends on quite a few things - the number of guests, hours of coverage, and activity during the wedding. A bare minimum would be 500 images however a full day coverage would warrant twice to three times as many images.
Do we get to keep all of them?
Yes you absolutely get to keep all of them. All images delivered come in high resolution Print Size as well as Web Size formats. Should you wish to print at a later time please feel free to do so. There is no obligation to print through my studio. I however retain the copyright to the images and reserve the right to use them for promotional purposes, competition, publication, professional review etc.
Do we get the RAW unedited files?
No. These files are not available for viewing or purchase. That would be like buying meat from the butcher.
How about wedding videography/cinematography? Will you provide us with that?
I'm a photographer so I do not practice videography/cinematography neither do I offer it as part of my studio's in-house services. I do however work with an array of wedding videographers/cinematographers. Should you need videography/cinematography services I will make an availability request to one of my associates on your behalf.
We already have a videographer/cinematographer in mind? Will that be a problem?
No. No problem at all.
How does the album design process work?
The album design process as well as selection of images for the albums lies by and large within my judgement and creative control. It makes for a smooth end product as I will have had already spent many hours getting acquainted with your most intimate images therefore knowing which ones to feature.
What kind of albums do you do?
I do both modern and traditional wedding albums. Modern wedding albums are ones where the images are printed directly onto the pages of the album much like a good quality coffee table book you'd buy at a bookshop. Traditional wedding albums on the other hand are ones where the photos are printed on photographic paper and then set or mounted onto the pages of the album. Photos and pages are separate in such albums.
What is the online gallery?
The online gallery is a private, password protected section on my website where all of your wedding photographs will be placed online for you and your family and friends to view. All you have to do is provide the password to anyone who you want to be able to view the images.
Do you do engagement sessions?
Yes I do. Except I call them Affection Sessions.
What kind of equipment do you use?
I use Canon Cameras and Canon Lenses.
Do you shoot digital or film?
I shoot both. Mostly digital during the wedding day and some film during location shoots.
Do you backup?
Yes I do. All work is archived on external highly durable hard drives should there be a need to retrieve at a later time for you.
Do we need to feed you during the dinner?
You don't have to but it would be really nice if you did. It would ensure that I don't pass out or dwindle away in a tragic manner. I usually have a bite to eat when you and your guests are having your dinner as people won't project their most photogenic moments during this time.
Do you have insurance?
Yes I do. Everything in my studio is insured.
Can you hold a date for us?
Bookings are taken on a first come/first serve basis. In order for a date to be locked and secured, a retainer needs to be paid forward. Once that is accounted for your date is held.
How does the payment process work?
A booking fee/retainer is due to reserve your date. The remainder is due once I deliver your wedding in digital form.
I have to cancel my wedding. Can I have my retainer back?
No you cannot. The retainer fee is non-refundable. The retainer guarantees that I will hold the date exclusively for you and once you have booked I will turn down all other commissions for that date.
What if you die or end up in hospital?
If I die I probably won't be coming to your wedding. If I end up in hospital I will to the best of my ability try and find a replacement photographer to cover your wedding.
When should we book?
As soon as you can. I sometimes have to turn down really nice couples who have asked for a peak season date 3-6 months prior.
